Costs

How much can I expect to pay for painting and decorating?

The price will vary depending on the room you require painting in the property. But on average, it will cost you £200 per day for our painting and decorating service.

With this in mind, you are looking at paying around £374- £650 if you want to paint a room in your property. But the size of the room will affect the final price for the painting by our team.

What is the price of a full house decorating job?

Before I give you an approximate cost for painting a property, it’s worth noting that I normally like to check out the property in person first so I can make a proper estimate on the decorating task. But to give you an idea of costs for a 3 bedroom house with the bedroom size an average of 3m x 4m and using Crown trade or Johnstone trade paint, it would cost:

£450 per bedroom
£550 for the living room
£1,350 for the hall, stairs and landing
£500 for the kitchen and bathroom

This is inclusive of ceiling, walls and skirting boards, door and frame.

With these costs, you are looking at a total cost of £3,750.

Is there a way to reduce these costs of a full house paint job?

If you want to bring down the costs, there are a couple of things that we can do.

Firstly, if we can paint in an unoccupied property, we can reduce the price by £160 due to the potential to paint areas more easily.

Also, if you are looking for a one colour paint job, we can reduce the price by £40. If the ceilings and walls are the same colour, we are also able to reduce the price by £300.

And if you don’t need us to protect the floor, there is a handy reduction of £100 from the final amount which would equate to £3,600.

Are there factors that could affect the price to make it more expensive?

If there is a room that requires a more complicated decorating job, there could be excess fees of £1500 or more. A few examples of this is a room where the furniture affects the job at hand or the woodwork is in a poor condition. Or you may require a more expensive paint to be used or have additional items such as coving, windows and picture rails that need painting. Also, if the ceiling is higher than normal this will affect the final price too. And if we have to strip wallpaper, apply skimming or hang wallpaper, this could make the price more expensive.

What is the price for painting the exterior of the property?

I would have to view the property for an accurate price due to various features on individual properties such as sash windows which can affect the cost due to the labour involved. In this instance, these windows would cost an additional £150 to paint.

To give you a rough estimate, we charge (per square metre) £10 for rendering that has previously been painted and £15 for unpainted rendering. For pebbledash, the price is £15 to £20 depending on if it has been painted or is unpainted.

This price does vary depending on access costs- in some cases, this can be higher than the cost of decorating.

We do like to work with our customers to find a cost-effective method for the work at hand, but it’s worth noting that additional costs do often occur on painting the exterior.

Special materials or items need to be purchased for my job?

We denounce with righteous indignation and dislike men who are so beguiled and demoralized by the charms of pleasure of the moment.

Paint Required

How much paint is used when decorating a 3 bedroom property?

The ceilings in the home tend to need at least 20-30 litres, due to each room using approximate 2-3 litres of paint.

The walls tend to require a total of 30-40 litres with each room averaging 4-5 litres depending on size.

Do I need to purchase the paint myself?

We recommend using trade paint for decorating projects; this type of paint is often of higher quality than other retail versions. In most cases, we will purchase the paint as we can get this at a reduced rate and are aware of the correct type and finish for the job at hand. But we are also happy to use your own paint if you prefer.

Duration

What is the duration of the project?

It depends on the size and requirements of the project. However, we will give you an idea of the duration when we book the job.
